Yes, there are Russian families settled here however that is because of the Akkuyu Energy Plant, however most of the tourists coming to Mersin for Summer are from Ankara, Konya, Adana, Hatay and Gaziantep. Demography of Mersin

Mersin is one of Turkey’s fast growing cities. The main reasons are its location on the Mediterranean Sea, its fertile lands and its being a logistic hub. Mersin International Port (MIP) creates synergy around it industrially and in terms of sea transportation and hauling by the D-400 to all over Turkey, Asia and Europe.

Mersin’s population has increased regularly from 1.595.000 in 2007 to 1.960.000 in 2024. This means newly zoned areas and new residential projects for migrants and local growths. For example if you would like to invest in land overlooking the sea to build a holiday home, Silifke is better than Erdemli. However, if you are after 1+1 or 2+1 apartments and like to be around people Erdemli has plenty to choose from sea view apartments.
