Silifke blends nature with history and investment & lifestyle is great here
It is no secret this website focuses on Lifestyle & Investment in Mersin, however among Mersin’s regions #Silifke stands out in many ways. About 60 miles to the West from the centre of Mersin, Silifke is famous with being the home of Turkish strawberries. The Goksu River is one of Turkey’s most important rivers. This makes the Goksu delta an extremely fertile location for agricultural production. Of course Silifke is not just about farming. Let us look at some naturally beautiful and historically important towns and villages of Silifke in this article.
Silifke town centre
The town developed on both sides of the Goksu River about 6 miles inland from the sea. The D-400 Mersin-Antalya road is another separator of the city however main residential parts are to the North of this road. Silifke Castle is on a hill-top and the newly renovated historical street down from the Town Hall is impressive in terms of restaurants, bars and bistros.
Silifke’s population is almost 140.000. Since the Covid-19 pandemic and the unfortunate Earthquake of 2023, population growth increased. This is down to Silifke’s variety of seaside places to live, and the ex-pats coming to live and work in the area as the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is still ongoing. Lifestyle & Investment points of Silifke: Lifestyle: 8/10 Investment: 8,5/10, Average: 8,25/10
Yoghurt is Silifke’s famous taste. Also salads here are excellent and crunchy here with the fresh seasonal produce. Town centre is good to live in, however if your aim is to retire to the area following areas we will tell about may be more interesting to you.
Tasucu port town
Expat population here may be more than locals, however it has been so long since the expats have arrived, they are considered to be locals. Tasucu is just 5 minutes out of Silifke by car. The port is known for hosting Cyprus Ferries. Tasucu is a tourism centre where many excursions are available. Boat trips, trekking, rafting are only a few of the activities available in the area.
Bogsak, Egribuk beaches are like heaven on Earth. Kum Mahallesi is another famous sand beach in the Tasucu area. Lifestyle & Investment points of Tasucu: Lifestyle: 9/10 Investment: 8,5/10, Average: 8,75/10
Akyar, Narlikuyu – newly planned, developing tourism centre
This area is famous for the fish restaurants by the sea and the Heaven and Hell Caves about a mile up the hill from the junction. That is not all about this region though. Since 2019 new plans have been the main topic in the area. As of 2025 the 1/5000 scale urban plans are almost ready.
The region is only about 15% developed and this is almost all the original village homes. With the motorway’s completion in 2027 and the approval of the 1/1000 scale application plans, your investment in currently agricultural land with no zoning will have huge upside in a few years.
The area reminds me of the Kas-Kalkan region with hills rising from the sea. Land options are available from the sea side to about 6 miles up the hill. Prices start from as low as $6 per sqm about 6 miles up the hill and reach up to $400 per sqm by the sea. We can show you land which you can shape as a farm or leave it as bought until the plans are approved. Or you can invest in land with a guaranteed zoning for a profitable future. Lifestyle & Investment points of Narlikuyu: Lifestyle: 8,5/10 Investment: 9,5/10, Average: 9/10
We highly recommend this area for land investment, especially you have already obtained Turkish Citizenship.
Atakent-Susanoglu, Kapizli
About 4 miles to the west of Narlikuyu, Susanoglu starts with attractive Leafy Bay (Yaprakli Koy), then along the bay a long sand beach goes for about 4,5 miles into Kapizli. We could say Susanoglu is the more developed of the two. The beach hosts low rise (4-5 storey) and high rise gated complexes. In other places there would first be hotels and resorts, but in Susanoglu more of the beach front buildings are residential. This may make it more interesting for you here if you are okay with living in a flat.
Up the hills, about 7-10 km from the Mediterranean sea in villages like Ozturkmenli, Kesliturkmenli and Meydan we have great lifestyle possibilities for you. Overlooking the sea with panoramic views of green and blue, these villages are suitable for your retirement plans. We can get your preferred land from the options and develop your dream home for you within 6-8 months.
Kapizli is to the south of Susanoglu along the beach. The complexes here are mostly duplexes and 2-3 floor, low rise apartment blocks about 200-400 away from the beach. Along the beach, apart from publice spaces, Kapizli hosts state camping sites, holiday facilities.
Resale 1+1 apartments in the area start from as low as $55.000 in Susanoglu. 2+1’s start from $80.000 in resale buildings.
Brand new apartments are from $90.000 in new buildings, and from $125.000 for 2+1 units. Lifestyle & Investment points of Narlikuyu: Lifestyle: 8,5/10 Investment: 9,5/10, Average: 9/10
In a nutshell, Silifke is worth a visit. With our new airport and the future completion of the Mersin-Antalya Motorway the accessibility of the area is getting better and better. Buying now will make you a winner at Lifestyle & Investment.
